A new Jazz & Blues festival emerges on Sanibel Island.

Sanibel Island has gained a new festival this year called the Sanibel Jazz & Blues
Festival, organized by the Sanibel-Captiva Optimist Club. This edition of the Sanibel Jazz
& Blues Festival is the premier edition of this new, annual festival and will take place behind
Bailey’s General Store on Sanibel Island, FL on November 6, 2016 from 01:00PM to
07:00 PM

Experience Blues and Jazz on the Island like never before with some well-known, professional
local artists and international talent.

These are in following order:

The Jazz Matics is a local, popular Jazz band that frequently performs at the Roadhouse café in
Fort Myers. They will be the opening act of this festival followed by JP Soars who is not a typical
blues guitarist.

JP Soars toured the globe playing jazz and blues and recorded several records before finding his
home in the blues. In 2009, Soars’ unique approach paid off as he and his trio The Red Hots
defeated bands from around the world to win the annual International Blues Challenge in
Memphis, TN. Soars also won the Albert King Award for most promising guitarist.

The popular Marty Stokes band is a local band that performs and records blues and
jazz in clubs around Florida. They just won the 2016 Regional International Blues
Competition of S.W. Florida, and also the People’s Choice Award.

The closing act of this festival will be the widely acclaimed British Guitar Virtuoso
and British Blues Hall of Fame1, Matt Schofield. Matt Schofield is regarded as one
of the most innovative guitarists to have emerged in generations.

Tickets ($40 regular / $125 VIP) will be available at Bailey’s General Store, George and Wendy’s
Sanibel Seafood Grill, The Sanibel Café, the Sanibel Captiva Community Bank, from members of
the Optimist Club, and on VIP package covers your food,
beverages, VIP area seating, VIP parking, and a Festival t-shirt. All proceeds from this festival
will benefit the Optimist Club’s college scholarship program, youth programs at the J N “Ding”
Darling Wildlife Refuge, and Community Housing and Resources of Sanibel, among others.

If attendees plan to come by car, they are strongly encouraged to carpool before entering the
causeway to the island. On-island parking is limited and will be available with transportation to
